Graduating Class Gift Committee Training

Once the Graduating Class Gift Committee Co-Chairs have successfully recruited their committee, arrange for a committee training meeting.  This module includes a sample Power Point presentation covering most of the material you should include in the meeting.  Advancement staff should prepare and give the training presentation.  In general the training session should begin with a statement of gratitude for the institution to the students for their volunteer work on this very important cause.  A simple outline of the training session:

• Thank the committee
• Explain why the institution needs philanthropic support
• Ask the committee to achieve 100% participation in giving among their group before the kick-off meeting
• Go over the timeline with the committee
• Encourage feedback from the committee for any improvements to the timeline or new action items
• Thank the committee again
